Our job is to oversee student athletes and department staff members, faculty and alumni, ensuring that the athletic department and its student athletes are compliant with all of the SUNY Old Westbury, Skyline Conference and NCAA rules.
COMPLIANCE MISSION STATEMENT
To ensure that the Old Westbury Athletic program operates in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA, the Skyline Conference and the SUNY Old Westbury. The compliance office is committed to educating every member within Old Westbury Athletics of the rules and regulations provided by the NCAA in an effort to prevent even the minor infractions. In the case of a bylaw violation, the compliance office will aim to identify, evaluate, and report the violation to the NCAA.
NCAA PRINCIPLES OF RULES COMPLIANCE
Per the NCAA Constitution, a member institution will comply with all applicable NCAA rules and regulations. An institution is also responsible for monitoring its athletics program to assure compliance for identifying and reporting all instances in which compliance has not been achieved.
OLD WESTBURY COMPLIANCE POLICY
It is the policy of Old Westbury Athletics to adhere to all applicable NCAA, Skyline Conference and College rules and regulations in the conduct of its athletics programs. It is the obligation and responsibility of all Department of Athletics staff members to act within all applicable rules and regulations at all times. All Department of Athletics coaching and administrative staff members are required by NCAA bylaws to sign the NCAA Certification of Compliance annually in good faith.
In order to be eligible for practice and/or competition, student-athletes must be enrolled in at least 12 credits during any semester. If a student-athlete drops below 12 credits, he/she becomes immediately ineligible for practice and/or competition. Students are also required to meet NCAA continuing eligibility standards. If you have any questions regarding your eligibility status, please do not hesitate to contact Chris Sacco 516.876.3462 or saccoc@oldwestbury.edu.

Sports wagering is a very serious issue and can lead to the permanent loss of intercollegiate eligibility. A student-athlete will become ineligible if he/she:
* Provides information to individuals involved in organized gambling activities concerning intercollegiate athletics competition;
* Solicits a bet on any intercollegiate team;
* Accepts a bet on any team representing the institution;
* Solicits or accepts a bet on any intercollegiate competition for any item (e.g., cash, shirt, dinner) that has tangible value;
* Participates in any gambling activity that involves intercollegiate or professional athletics, through a bookmaker, parlay card, or any other method employed by organized gambling.
